Key REsources

Collaboration Board

During the proposal process, 27 letters of collaboration were received from partners across the country, and even a few international partners. 11 sites were identified as key resources for our spectrum community.

Our Collaborators

Center Relationships

As the SpectrumX Center has materialized into the envisioned academic hub, 5 active collaborators have established mutually beneficial relationships with the Center and its member academic institutions. These letters, resources, and active collaborators are depicted in the map below.

Industry and Government

A Consortium Model

SpectrumX has developed a consortium model (similar to the NSF’s IUCRC model) for industry and government agencies to contribute additional funding through center memberships and enhancement projects, and to contribute to center governance through a Collaboration Advisory Board (CAB). CAB members are encouraged to participate in and/or contribute to specific projects relevant to them; obtain early access to project results; gain access to highly skilled talent (faculty and students); and work with SpectrumX participants directly to apply the Center’s research outcomes to further develop and implement solutions (e.g., products, services, methodologies, and policies) that solve real-world spectrum-related problems.

Meetings & Events

Our CAB members enjoy participation in virtual biweekly Center Working Group meetings, monthly Research Community meetings, and in-person semi-annual Full Center Meetings typically hosted on a campus of one of our academic member institutions. CAB members regularly interact with academic researchers, students, and other CAB members. They also receive invitations to our Radio Shop Chat seminar series, Center newsletters, and periodic reporting.

Financial Support

Generous Funding

In addition to the Collaboration Advisory Board (CAB), several entities have generously provided financial support to the Center and enjoy active collaborative relationships with SpectrumX outside of the official CAB.

Google

Provided financial support for SpectrumX’s Broadband MAPUS program, which introduces undergraduate students from MSIs with little to no prior research experiences to spectrum-related opportunities while collecting and synthesizing critically important broadband data.

NTIA-ITS

National Telecommunications and Information Administration Institute for Telecommunications Sciences has established a SpectrumX Liaison / Visiting Researcher program.

NTIA-OSM

National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s Office of Spectrum Management entrusted SpectrumX with hosting a National Spectrum Strategy Listening Session for the solicitation and receipt and public comments and for the extension of the NTIA-ITS Liaison program to include Liaisons / Visiting Researchers engaging with OSM as well.
