Spectrum Week is back in 2024: Co-locating six major spectrum events

The second annual U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) Spectrum Week is open for registration. This year, NSF Spectrum Week will be hosted May 13-17, 2024, in Arlington, Virginia. It will bring together six major spectrum events and create an even bigger opportunity for cross-collaborations than its first year in 2023. The collaborative organizational effort is again being led by SpectrumX, an academic hub where all spectrum innovators come together to innovate, collaborate, and contribute to the advancement of radio spectrum resources and sciences.
The events that will be part of this program, which forms NSF Spectrum Week, include NSF Spectrum Innovation Initiative-funded programs SpectrumX, National Radio Dynamic Zones (NDRZ), and Spectrum and Wireless Innovation Enabled by Future Technologies (SWIFT). These research community meetings will be co-located with IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) DySPAN (Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks) 2024. The National Spectrum Management Association (NSMA) and the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) Wireless Spectrum Research and Development Interagency Working Group (WSRD IWG) will also host events on-site as well. Finally, the week will feature poster sessions and a career fair for students currently studying in areas related to innovating in the radio spectrum.
“The discussions and conversations we had at NSF Spectrum Week 2023 were transformative for SpectrumX’s research and efforts to connect more broadly throughout the year,” said Nick Laneman, center director for SpectrumX, co-director for the Notre Dame Wireless Institute, and professor of electrical engineering at the University of Notre Dame. “We have sought to expand that footprint in 2024 to support peer-reviewed publications at IEEE DySPAN 2024, working with our partners on timely topics such as the U.S. National Spectrum Strategy, and finding what the industry needs from academics in the way of research and educating the next generations We invite policymakers, researchers, and students to attend and take part in this event.”
